Butterflies
Welcome to Butterflies class! Butterflies class starts our Key Stage 1 learning journey. O Children are encouraged to challenge themselves to become independent learners, whilst transitioning from the EYFS framework to the Year 1 National Curriculum.
Children in Butterflies class continue their phonics learning into phase 5, expanding on prior knowledge from Nursery and Reception to prepare them for the end of year phonics screening. Phonics at Orchard Park is taught in line with the Little Wandle Systematic synthetic phonics scheme.
In Butterflies class, we cover a wide range of engaging topics throughout the school year. During these topics, children will have the opportunity to engage with class trips and visitors, which inspire their passion for learning. Some of these trips and visitors include a visit from a local midwife, visiting the Ely Toy Museum and a seaside trip to Wells beach. Children in Butterflies class will also get the chance to star in a Key Stage 1 and EYFS Nativity. This is an excellent moment for the children to showcase their spoken language skills to a live audience.
