Remote Learning
Our remote learning policy sets out the school’s approach to educating pupils who will not be attending school, as a result of government guidance or the where a child is unable to attend school due to COVID 19. It aims to ensure our expectations are clear for staff, parents and pupils in reference to planning, teaching, learning and assessment.
Our policy ensures that remote education is offered as soon as it becomes necessary, with consistency in the approach to remote learning for all pupils (Inc. SEND) who aren’t in school through use of quality online and offline resources. Further aims of the policy include:

Provide clear expectations to members of the school community with regards to delivery of high quality interactive remote learning.

Include continuous delivery of the school curriculum, as well as support of Motivation, Health and Well-Being and Parent support.

Ensure that pupils learn new facts and concepts, as well as reinforcing prior learning.

Ensure that pupils engage in learning they would have completed had they been in school as normal.

Ensure that online tools used, enable appropriate interaction with pupils, the assessment of their work and provision of feedback.

Provide continued education and support for staff and parents (e.g. CPD, Curriculum Guidance for Parents and Google Classroom/Zoom support for families)

Support effective communication between the school and so that parents and pupils can access and make the best use of resources

Ensure that pupils who lack any necessary equipment have this sourced for them.
“Despite the challenges, remote education has made a significant contribution to enabling students to continue to learn and progress, and to mitigate any widening of the attainment gap of the disadvantaged. Where a class, group or small number of pupils need to self-isolate, or there are local restrictions requiring pupils to remain at home, we expect schools to have the capacity to offer immediate remote education.”
