Class Dojo Information & Guidance for Parents

What is Class Dojo?

Class Dojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students, and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what’s being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages.

Features:

Portfolios

ClassDojo Portfolios are digital student portfolios that allow students to share classwork with their teachers and family. Teachers can also assign projects directly to students. Teachers can view and approve student work on Portfolios. Students can create and upload photos, videos, drawings through ClassDojo, and can also upload Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and image files from any laptop devices to which students can respond. Parents and teachers can leave positive feedback in the form of a like and/or comments.

Stories

Stories are instantly updating streams of messages, pictures and videos similar to a Twitter-style timeline. Every class and school has their own Story, all of which are shared home with parents. School Story helps teachers to share with all families connected to their school while Class Story helps teachers to share with all families connected to their class.

Messages

Messages allow teachers and parents to message each other, without needing to share phone numbers or contact details. Teachers will always endeavour to reply as quickly as possible. Due to settings on the Class Dojo App, teachers will only be able to respond to messages between 7am and 5pm (Monday-Friday). Staff will aim to reply within 48hrs of the message being sent; however, please bear in mind that school life can be incredibly busy and whilst every effort will be made to reply or acknowledge messages, there may be a delay on occasion.
If a message appears during a teacher’s absence, it will be responded to by the teacher on their return.

Dojo Points

Teachers use Class Dojo to promote positive behaviours in their classroom. Each child gets a monster avatar, and teachers can award Dojos for things such as staying on task, meeting a target, being kind or brilliant homework. Each student’s monsters can only be customised from within a student account.
